An Introduction to Subject-City

Subject-City is a small developing business that creates educational web-sites, providing free web-communities for individual school departments (e.g. maths, physics, chemistry etc). Although we are currently a small outfit, we believe that Subject-City has massive potential and will also be greatly beneficial to the education sector. Our company was founded and is managed by Peter Wishart and currently operates as a sole trader business from an office in Holywood, Co. Down.

What we offer?

As previously mentioned ‘Subject City’ is a business that creates educational web-sites which provide free web-communities for individual school departments.

Each web-community consists of:

Ø  A public front for the individual school department, this can be up to 10 web-pages.

Ø  A private set of interactive course notes viewable only to the students of the registered schools.

Ø  A private back office for the teacher to update their web-community and communicate with their students.

The concept is to have a number of interlinked ‘school subject’ websites which provide free web-communities for individual school departments, examples of our websites would be:

Ø  http://www.maths-quarter.com (Currently Operational)

Ø  www.physics-quarter.com (Future Development)

Ø  www.chemistry-quarter.com (Future Development)

Ø  www.biology-quarter.com  (Future Development)

Ø  With more to follow.

Together all these educational web-sites will make up Subject-City.

Our first product is:

www.maths-quarter.com

A website dedicated to providing web-communities for the mathematics departments of schools in the United Kingdom. Maths-Quarter.com was produced as a prototype in May 2007 and currently has 112 schools and over 8000 students registered to the web-site. So far Maths-Quarter has been a success with many students utilising the website during their A-Level exams. From this point we plan to further develop the ‘Maths-Quarter’ and followed by the rest of ‘Subject-City’.

Subject-City provides these web-communities free of charge to the schools. We generate the revenue to fund our company from advertisments. Our Advertisers are businesses with an interest in the education sector. Whether it is universities, revision guides, banks offering student accounts or companies producing education material, our sponsors can reach their specific target audience through our web-sites.

A Brief History

Subject-City began trading in May 2007 with the launch of its first product Maths-Quarter.com. Prior to this date we have been developing www.maths-quarter.com to be a pilot web-site over the A/AS Level exam period. Subject-City’s proprietor, Peter Wishart, graduated in June 06 with an honours degree in Mathematics from Edinburgh University. Since graduating he has been working as a freelance web-designer.  He is self taught in web-design and has been developing his skills since 2004. Since becoming a freelance web-designer he has been working on and continues to develop the following websites:

Ø  www.Maths-Quarter.com

Ø  www.WishartGroup.co.uk

Ø  www.BallyclareInsuranceServices.co.uk
