Maths-Quarter Developments

Status Quo

Currently Maths-Quarter's course notes consists of the core maths modules C1 interactive notes and C2 printable notes. All of Maths-Quarter's course notes content has been written and compiled by a previous CCEA maths teacher.

Recent Improvements

Over the month of May Maths-Quarter has been demonstrating its website to a selection of maths teachers in Northern Ireland. The direct contact with the teachers helped us gain some feedback about improving the website.

Below is a list of improvements that we have made as a direct result of the teachers comments:

  • Forum Posting Control: Teachers can now prohibit their students from posting problems and replies on are online forum. This acts as a safeguard against students abusing the forum. (Suggested by Mr Graham Assumption Grammar School)
  • Maths-Community Statistics: Data is now available to teachers on the usage of their Maths-Community. This provides the teacher with a clear picture of the effectiveness of their Maths-Community. (Suggested by Mr Keys St Columb's College)
  • Forum Author Type: Our online forum now stores information on the type of author posting a message. These are under 3 catagories "Student", "Teacher" and "MQ Maths Support". As well as the author type the forum also stores the IP address of the author. (Suggested by Mrs Wolsey Glenlola Collegiate School)
  • Student Zone Reconstruction: The student zoen has now been reconstructed to highlight which material is on which exam module.

Our Market Reseach and Next Move?

Over the exam period we are collecting online questionaires from registered students and teachers. These questionaires are designed to help us know the needs and wants of the students and the teachers. On completion of our market reseach, we plan to finish our course notes with the aim of meeting all our registered users requirements.

Other Possiblities

One of the fanastic aspeats about Maths-Quarter is its teaching/learning potential. We hope to offer services such as online mock exams and total interactive equations where the student can input maths and the web site checks its correctness.

These our just a couple of ideas that Maths-Quarter is working on, we hope with the future use of the web site that many more inspirational suggestions will help the further development of the Maths-Quarter.
